At Old Oak Collection, we continue to be inspired by the way reclaimed antique timber transforms modern spaces.
In this edition, we highlight three standout features: a beautifully detailed home in Dunedin, a handcrafted table by WRW & Co., and a richly layered interior with our Versailles parquet flooring. Each project reveals the depth and character only reclaimed oak can offer.
Dunedin House: A Ceiling That Holds the Room
For this project, we supplied a generous amount of our rustic, wire-brushed antique oak, and the results speak for themselves.
Of special note are the ceiling linings and handcrafted box beams. While they aren’t solid beams, each one is carefully constructed as a hollow form – joined and finished to appear completely solid. The craftsmanship is so precise, these beams are nearly indistinguishable from solid beams.
The result is an architectural feature that feels grounded and authentic, a testament to what is possible with vision, care, and truly beautiful oak.
WRW & Co. Table: 200-Year-Old Oak, Reimagined by Hand
We source European oak over 200 years old, ideal for custom joinery – from vanities and shelving to cabinetry and features.
In Matakana, Will Worsp of WRW & Co. has crafted a one of a kind table using our 200+ year old solid oak. The timber was dressed to a refined finish that still reveals every grain and knot in the wood.
The result is a piece that feels both substantial and soulful – modern in form, timeless in character. It’s a stunning example of how antique timber can be reinterpreted for contemporary living while retaining its historical depth. The craftsmanship is exquisite and we are excited to see more featured pieces like this come to life – where old materials find new meaning, made to last for generations more.
Interior Feature: Versailles Parquet in Chateau Range
In this featured interior, our Chateau range in a dark grey tone is shown in a traditional Versailles parquet pattern. It pairs effortlessly with antique beams and rustic furniture, creating a space rich in texture and atmosphere.
Versailles panels were originally used in French castles and royal residences. Today, our panels are tongue and groove assembled, available in traditional 102×102 cm or a more compact 70×70 cm. The 15 or 20mm thickness ensures durability, while the aged surface – marked by chipped edges, random wear, and shifting tones – makes each piece uniquely expressive. The discolouration around knots, natural colour accents, and surface patina make this flooring not just elegant, but alive.
