Reclaimed Oak Beams, Planks & Projects

Inside the Old Oak Collection vol.6

Some pieces arrive carrying more than just age. Recently, a number of carved beams passed through our yard. Each marked by hand, each holding a detail that has outlived its origin.

One, dated 1894 with initials and a small heart. Another, carved with a Seed of Life motif. Over a century on, their stories remain unknown. For now, they are held in our yard, waiting for the right project.

Carved Beam with Seed of Life Motif

An antique oak beam with a hand carved Seed of Life motif came through the yard. A rare detail to find intact.

Rather than using it as a whole, the beam was taken apart with care. The carved face has been kept aside for a future application where it can be properly seen. The remaining timber has been used to form a custom kitchen island.

Queenstown Kitchen

A recent client project in Queenstown used our rustic wire-brushed oak boards to form a kitchen island feature.

The result is considered and well resolved. The timber brings warmth into the space and sits comfortably within the overall design.

Wine Press Floor Planks

A new shipment is on its way, including extra-wide planks reclaimed from historic European wine press floors.

Years of use have left deep red wine staining through the grain. The boards are well suited to table making and larger pieces, where their width can be carried through without interruption.
